Option 1 Recognition of Prior Learning (Experienced Trainer/Assessor)

Suitable for people who: Are currently employed within or have been employed (recently) within a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) or Training Company/Business working in vocational education and training (VET):
- You are applying for recognition of prior learning (RPL) and/or,
- Have many years doing a variety of different types of work, and have industry experience in training and assessment in Vocational Education and Training (VET) and/or,
- Have completed the previous version of this qualification TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
- Have strong digital literacy and online researching skills.
You have usually been engaged in the workforce for many years doing a variety of different types of work within VET, and are looking to increase your skills and knowledge so that you can take on new roles within respective workplaces.
- You are able to demonstrate vocational competency in your proposed teaching and assessing area
- You have broad industry knowledge and experience, including but is not limited to, holding a relevant unit of competency or qualification
- Your role may involve some coaching/mentoring with individuals or small groups
- Your role may involve training others in the workplace
- Your role may involve training of small groups or individuals
- You are currently in the role as an enterprise trainer
- You are currently in the role as an enterprise assessor
- You are wanting to upgrade your skills, knowledge and currency to the new TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
- You have strong digital literacy and online researching skills.

The further study pathways available to learners who undertake this qualification include:After achieving TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, candidates may undertake a Diploma of Training and Assessment or may choose to undertake a Vocational Graduate Certificate in Adult Language, Literacy and Numeracy Practice.

- AALI Trainer/Assessor support - For the duration of your course you are assigned an experience and qualified AALI Trainer/Assessor for assessment support.
Recognition of prior learning (RPL)
If you have prior knowledge and experience in this industry, you are able to apply for recognition of prior learning RPL for any unit or units of competency within this qualification package.
RPL is a pathway to achieving competency.
RPL assessment is based on your ability to demonstrate the skills and knowledge required for the unit/s of competency (UoC) where RPL is sought.
To apply for RPL, means you have extensive skills and knowledge, are able to provide recent documented and video evidence if required, demonstrating your skills and knowledge for the UoC/s where RPL is sought.
You must be able to provide recent, specific and tangible evidence that you meet the competency criteria.
It is recommended to view the UoC/s requirement/s via www.training.gov.au prior to making an application for RPL.
Please think very carefully about RPL as you must have recent quantifiable evidence to demonstrate your existing skills and knowledge in the UoC/s where RPL is sought.
The RPL list of evidence and knowledge requirements can be found in the RPL Application kit for this course. This is provided to you if you choose to complete the TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment via the RPL assessment pathway, and have enrolled.
Once your RPL application has been reviewed, if gaps are identified, further evidence will be requested from you.
You may need to complete gap training for specific units, or complete the whole unit/s where RPL is not able to be awarded.
Credit Transfer
Credit transfer is having previously completed a unit of competency that remains equivalent to the current unit.
To apply for CT, you must be able to provide the Certificate and transcript of your previously completed qualification or Statement of Attainment.
All submitted Qualifications and Statements of Attainment are required to be verified by the issuing training provider.
AALI recognises Qualifications and Statements of Attainment issued by other Registered Training Organisations (RTOs).
