Volume of Learning
The volume of learning includes all training, learning and assessment activities, either supervised and unsupervised, structured, or unstructured.
The Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) refers to the term 'volume of learning' to describe how long a typical student will take to develop the required skills and knowledge to be competent at each qualification level.
All qualifications offered by the Australian Adult Learning Institute have an agreed duration to complete from the date of enrolment.
The time recommended to complete a Unit of Competency will range from 60 – 90 hours for an individual unit of competency (depending on the complexity of the unit and your experience).
We recommend completing one (1) unit of competency within 4 – 6 weeks after commencement.
These hours are based on students who do not have prior skills, knowledge or experience in the industry in which the qualification is being completed.
The hours mentioned cover all training, support, learning, reading required, completion of assessment activities, and project work required to demonstrate competence.
The hours and timeframe may reduce according to your existing skills, knowledge and experience.
The nominal hours recommended do not take into consideration any potential recognition of prior learning (RPL) that may be awarded based on your existing skills, knowledge and experience.
