About this Qualification
This qualification is suitable for people working in a Work Health and Safety (WHS) role who work to provide leadership and guidance to others and have some limited responsibility for the output of others.
The qualification reflects the role of workers who apply a broad knowledge base and well developed skills in a wide variety of contexts and may include coordinators, advisors and facilitators.

  • There are THREE types of people who will enrol in this course:

  • Those with little to no knowledge in work health and safety
  • Those who have been engaged in the workforce for many years doing a variety of different types of work relating to work health and safety
  • Those who have skills, knowledge and experience in work health and safety.
  • You have little to NO existing skills, knowledge and experience in work health and safety

  • You are interested in learning about the work health and safety sector and in particular, the skills and knowledge to become qualified within the work health and safety industry.

  • You may be a new entrant to an organisation who have no prior or limited experience in work health and safety, and are exploring a new career
  • Your role may involve some of the day to day operations of work health and safety
  • You are wanting to upgrade your skills, knowledge to attain a nationally recognised qualification, and learn more skills in relation to work health and safety.

  • You have been engaged in the workforce for many years doing a variety of different types of work relating to work health and safety

  • You have usually been engaged in the workforce for many years doing a variety of different types of work, and are looking to increase your skills and knowledge so that you can take on new roles within your respective workplace, or industry.

  • Your role may involve some of the day to day operations of work health and safety
  • Your role may involve managing a team of people or individuals
  • You may have broad industry knowledge and experience in work health and safety, and are exploring a new career
  • Your role may involve managing work health and safety within a business
  • You are wanting to upgrade your skills, knowledge to attain a nationally recognised qualification, and learn more skills in relation to work health and safety.
The volume of learning includes all training, learning and assessment activities, either supervised and unsupervised, structured, or unstructured.
  • You have existing skills, knowledge and experience in work health and safety

  • You have usually been engaged in the workforce for many years doing a variety of different types of work, and are looking to increase your skills and knowledge so that you can take on new roles within your respective workplace, or industry.

  • Your role involves the day to day operations of work health and safety
  • Your role involves managing a team of people or individuals
  • You have broad industry knowledge and experience in work health and safety
  • You are currently managing aspects of work health and safety within your business, or a business or company you are employed within
  • You are wanting to upgrade your skills, knowledge to attain a nationally recognised qualification and learn more skills in relation to the work health and safety industry.

Total number of units = 105 Core Units plus 5 (Pre-packaged) Elective Units

  • BSBWHS412 Assist with workplace compliance with WHS laws
  • BSBWHS413 Contribute to implementation and maintenance of WHS consultation and participation processes
  • BSBWHS414 Contribute to WHS risk management
  • BSBWHS415 Contribute to implementing WHS management systems
  • BSBWHS416 Contribute to workplace incident response
  • Elective Units

  • BSBLDR411 Demonstrate leadership in the workplace
  • BSBINS401 Analyse and present research information
  • BSBWHS417 Assist with managing WHS implications of return to work
  • BSBWRT411 Write complex documents
  • TAEDEL301 Provide work skill instruction
Your course enrolment period is 12 months
Upon enrolment you are provided with an assessment plan with recommended dates to complete each unit within this course.
You are able to complete all required learning in your own time (Self-Paced), although you will be required to meet assessment milestones to successfully complete this qualification within the timeframe provided.
You are able to progress through the course in less than 12 months as we work at your pace.
We recommend completing one (1) unit of competency within 4 – 6 weeks after commencement.
