Mode of Delivery - Online Self Paced
This mode of delivery is suitable for people who are not able to attend training face to face due to commitments relating to work or personal life, geographical restrictions, or preferred method of learning, and is self-paced.
About this Unit of Competency
- This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to conduct individual and group instruction, demonstrate work skills and assess the success of training and one’s own training performance, using existing learning resources in a safe and comfortable learning environment.
- It emphasises the training as being driven by the work process and context, and applies to a person working under supervision as a work skill instructor in a wide range of settings not restricted to training organisations.

Licensing/Regulatory Information
- Achievement of this unit of competency by trainers is a requirement of the Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) 2015.
Entry Requirements
- Those entering this program must be able to demonstrate vocational competency in their proposed teaching and assessing area. Vocational competency is defined as broad industry knowledge and experience, and may include, but is not limited to, holding a relevant unit of competency or qualification.
People who would enrol into this qualification
- There are THREE types of learners who will enrol in this course:
- Those with little to no knowledge in training and assessment within VET
- Those who have been engaged in the workforce for many years doing a variety of different types of work
- Those who have industry experience in VET although have not completed formal nationally accredited and recognised training in relation to training and assessment
- You have NO existing skills, knowledge and experience in Training and Assessment Environments
- You are interested in learning about the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector and in particular, the skills and knowledge to provide work skill instruction.
- You are able to demonstrate vocational competency in your proposed teaching and assessing area, and are exploring a new vocational career. Vocational competency is defined as broad industry knowledge and experience, and may include, but is not limited to, holding a relevant unit of competency or qualification.
- You may be a new entrant to an organisation who have no prior or limited experience in training and assessment, and are exploring a new vocational career
- You may have broad industry knowledge and experience although have no prior, or limited experience in training and assessment, and are exploring a new vocational career.
- You have been engaged in the workforce for many years doing a variety of different types of work, or have industry experience in VET, although have not completed formal nationally accredited and recognised training in relation to this unit of competency.
- You have usually been engaged in the workforce for many years doing a variety of different types of work, and are looking to increase your skills and knowledge so that you can take on new roles within respective workplaces.
- You are able to demonstrate vocational competency in your proposed teaching and assessing area
- You have broad industry knowledge and experience, including but is not limited to, holding a relevant unit of competency or qualification
- Your role may involve some coaching/mentoring with individuals or small groups
- Your role may involve training others in the workplace
- Your role may involve training of small groups or individuals
- You are currently in the role as an enterprise trainer
- You are currently in the role as an enterprise assessor
- You are wanting to upgrade your skills, knowledge and currency to the new Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
